Conference Participants Fly e-Mission™

Wed Feb 6 2008

Participants at the Midwest Education Technology Conference (METC) learned about the e-Mission™ program and flew one themselves courtesy of the Challenger Learning Center® located at the Center for Educational Technologies®.

Kathleen Frank, assistant director for the Challenger Learning Center, spoke to members at the conference today in St. Charles, MO, about e-Missions, which use distance learning to provide students and adults with problem-based simulations that emphasize teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills. They allow teachers to easily integrate the excitement of technology into the classroom.

Frank then connected with the Challenger Learning Center and led participants through Space Station Alpha. In this mission students use their math and science skills to help the crew of the International Space Station survive the effects of a huge solar flare.

METC brings together a diverse collection of speakers to share their knowledge, experience, strategies, and expertise using established and emerging technologies in the classroom.
