NASA Game Is One of 'Most Talked About'

Thu Aug 16 2007

Selene, a videogame created at the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future to investigate how students can best learn NASA science through videogames, has been named to the list of the most talked about games at the 2007 Game Developers Conference.

The game earned a spot on the list posted on the conference website based on reviews from conference participants. The conference took place in March. Selene is listed under the serious games category. It joins many well-known commercial games featured on the most talked about list, including Final Fantasy XII, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Spore, and Company of Heroes among others.

Selene debuted in mid-May as part of the Classroom of the Future's ongoing look at what makes effective educational videogames, a study funded by NASA. An updated version of the game designed to fix bugs in the prototype version will be available in August.

The research team at the Classroom of the Future is still seeking adult recruiters to sign up potential youth players of the game. Visit the Selene website or e-mail selene@cet.edu to sign up.
