West Virginia Students GEAR UP for Mission
Feb 25 2008
Middle school and high school students from 14 West Virginia counties participated in a Challenger Learning Center® e-Mission™ during the Fairmont State University GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Family Day Feb. 23.
The daylong GEAR UP event offered students the opportunity to explore a career they are interested in.
Challenger Learning Center assistant directors, Kathleen Frank and Sharon Morgan, connected from Fairmont with the Challenger Learning Center at the Center for Educational Technologies® at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, WV. They conducted the Operation Montserrat e-Mission™, in which students must decide how to save the residents of the small Caribbean island of Montserrat as a volcano erupts and a hurricane approaches.
