New York Students Featured on TV During Mission
Thu May 8 2008
Students in New York were featured recently on a New York City television station as they took part in the Operation Montserrat e-Mission™ conducted through the Challenger Learning Center® at the Center for Educational Technologies®.
Students at H.B. Mattlin Middle School in Plainview helped save the residents of the Caribbean island of Montserrat as a hurricane approached and a volcano erupted during the distance learning mission. WABC-TV covered the e-Mission.
A video of the report is available online.
Lori Flynn, lead flight director for e-Missions, conducted Operation Montserrat for the fifth-graders.
"It's very interesting to know how little islands can have major disasters," student Alex Kam said in the report.
