Cable TV Promotes Summer Camps

Mon Jul 7 2008

The Challenger Learning Center® summer camps have gotten a boost via a local cable television provider.

The camps are being featured this month on Comcast Newsmakers, a five-minute interview program airing on Headline News (channel 33) that provides news and information from people making a difference. Elected officials, public servants, and community leaders connect viewers to the important issues, events, and organizations that are shaping our community. Comcast Newsmakers interviews run 25 and 55 minutes past the hour 24 hours a day, seven days a week (except during CNN prime-time programming).

Annie Morgan, co-lead flight director for the Challenger Learning Center, visited the program and spoke about the center's day camp program. You can watch the video below.

New to the Challenger offerings this year is Explore Your World and Beyond, a day camp for children entering grades 1-3. Campers will explore the wonders of the universe, discover what makes each planet special, and learn why Earth stands apart from the rest. Campers will blast off for a day filled with excitement, fun, and make-and-take activities while they make new friends and enjoy the adventure of learning about space. The camp costs $15 and runs from 9:30-11 a.m. on July 29 and Aug. 6.

Another Challenger Learning Center day camp is for youth entering grades 4-7. In Return to the Moon campers will enjoy a day of nonstop excitement as they journey to the moon to explore the dusty lunar surface, launch a probe, and establish a permanent lunar base. Campers will conduct vital scientific experiments, experience unique hands-on activities, and make new friends. This camp runs from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 29, 31, and Aug. 4, 6. Cost is $30.
