WV Higher Ed Tech Conference Highlights Website

Thu Oct 9 2008

A presentation at the West Virginia Higher Education Technology Conference Sept. 29 at Morgantown featured the EdTech Collaborative, a NASA-funded website to share best practices in educational technology.

Dr. Laurie Ruberg, associate director of the Center for Educational Technologies®, presented "Using Web 2.0 to Foster Collaborative Leadership." The presentation is available on the EdTech Collaborative website.

The EdTech Collaborative is considered to be in the alpha stage of development. The website, which works like a wiki in that users contribute materials and can comment on or edit postings, was an outgrowth of the biennial benchmarking on educational technology report completed for NASA by the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future housed at the center.

The EdTech Collaborative is about choosing and using educational technologies for more effective teaching and learning. Given the increased use of the Internet and the constant influx of promising educational tools, there is a need to know what works and what doesn't and why. The site welcomes the contributions of educators, instructional designers, curriculum coordinators, teachers, administrators, and technology developers.
