Flowometer Takes Stage at AECT Conference

The Flowometer, an assessment tool created as part of NASA-funded research into videogame learning, is at the heart of a presentation to be made at the Association for Educational Communications and Technology conference Oct. 27-31 in Louisville, KY.
Dr. Debbie Denise Reese, senior educational researcher at the Center for Educational Technologies, will present "Replication Supports Flowometer: Advancing Cyberlearning through Game-based Assessment Technologies."
Reese designed the Flowometer as part of NASA-funded research into both inspiration and videogame learning.
According to the abstract for her presentation, "The vision for 21st century academic and lifelong achievement requires methods for design, development, implementation, and evaluation of cyberlearning environments and aligned assessment toolsets (Borgman, et al., 2008). Assessments will be embedded to measure and report changes in learner perceptions and learning. We have previously piloted our flowometer assessment instrument, measuring changes in player's perceptions of skill and challenge (flow). The study reported here is a replication with extension conducted to establish the reliability of the instrument."
