Online Collaboratives Subject of Ruberg's NSTA Session

Wed Oct 27 2010

A proposal involving the NASATalk website has been accepted as one of 10 breakout sessions for the 2011 Research Dissemination Conference on Emerging Technologies sponsored by the National Science Teachers Association.

Dr. Laurie Ruberg, associate director of the Center for Educational Technologies, will present "Adding Value to Instruction with Strategic Use of Online Collaboratives" at the March 12 conference in San Francisco. Ruberg's session will focus on the NASATalk website created by the NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future.

The ability to create topic-specific collaboratives that allow educators to share their thoughts and experiences has proved to be a tremendous benefit of NASATalk. Ruberg will share guidelines for creating virtual communities like NASATalk to support teacher integration of NASA resources. Participants will test the guidelines by reviewing case profiles provided.

The NASATalk website is a place for educators to share their experiences using NASA education resources.
