Robotics Tweetup Highlights Robotics Week

Thu May 17 2012

The NASA-sponsored Classroom of the Future turned to social media to involve people in National Robotics Week April 9-13.

Dr. Meri Cummings, science resource teacher at the Center for Educational Technologies, coordinated a "Tweetup" via Twitter in which participants were guided to robotics activities each day. Cummings also moderated discussions and activities via the NASA Talk website created and managed by the Classroom of the Future. For the week the Tweetup resulted in 62 followers from around the world.

Joining Cummings in presenting the daily robotics activities via NASA Talk were Luke Reynolds and Robin Shoop of the Carnegie Mellon University National Robotics Engineering Center and Computer Science Student Network; Kathy Morgan and Megan Patent-Nygren of GEAR-Tech-21 and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; Jane Taylor of Bot Shop LLC; Deryn Martin, a student at Robert Morris University; and Storm Robinson of the NASA ePDN program & CEISMC of Georgia Tech.
