ESSEA

An artistic image of the earthThe Earth System Science Education Alliance (ESSEA) is a partnership among universities, colleges, and science education organizations. Its goal is to improve Earth science education.

The Center for Educational Technologies® helped create ESSEA in 2000 along with the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) through funding and support from NASA. Today IGES oversees the ESSEA partnership.

ESSEA offers state-of-the-art online courses through various universities across the country. These courses teach Earth system science, encourage communication and cooperation among teachers, and facilitate the use of top-notch classroom curricula and technology. ESSEA is helping to build a cadre of Earth system science teachers who possess the knowledge, skills, and resources to ensure that today's learners become good shepherds of the planet themselves.
